All of his working career Gareth has been involved with the Filling Station and fuel storage industry in particular the associated electrical Installations and equipment.
He has been an active member of the APEA for over twenty years and during that time has served as Scottish Branch Chairman and more importantly served on the National Council of the APEA as a member of their technical and training Committees and elected as their National Chairman from 2008 to 2010.
Gareth has been actively involved with the technical revisions of the electrical section of the technical guidance document for the Design, Construction, maintenance and decommissioning of filling stations, including this latest 5th Edition for the APEA. He is also the current Chairman of the technical review committee for the IET/APEA Supplementary Code of Practice for EVSE Installations on Filling Stations.
Presently and for the last twenty years Gareth engages as a specialist electrical Consultant and safety trainer for those who may be carrying out or be responsible for electrical work on Filling Stations and in potentially explosive atmospheres both in the UK and Internationally.
